Question: Types of circuit breaker and their applications.: Answer: Circuit breakers mainly are categorized based on application as per voltage.
1. Low Voltage Circuit Breaker
Low-voltage circuit breakers are typically used in applications such as lighting circuits, motor control centers, feeder circuits, and any application in which electrical power needs to be turned on and off and overcurrent protection is required.
2. Medium Voltage Circuit Breakers
Medium voltage breakers are designed to be operated electrically by a closing solenoid or a stored energy mechanism. Manual operation is used primarily for breaker maintenance.
3. HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BREAKERS
High-voltage circuit breakers are mechanical switching devices that connect and break current circuits (operating currents and fault currents) and carry the nominal current in the closed position.
Question: What can cause the main circuit breaker to trip?: Answer: The most common cause of a tripped circuit breaker is an overload in that circuit. Each circuit is only intended to carry a certain electrical load, and if it exceeds this load, it will cause the breaker to trip. This is important, as overloading a circuit can cause the wiring to heat up and potentially create a fire risk. In fact, it is this excess heat running through the circuit that causes the breaker to trip.
Question: How we know that have to replace breaker?: Answer: 1. Breaker trips frequently.
2. Burning smell coming from the electrical panel.
3. Poorly performing appliances and light fixtures.
4. Breaker fails to stay in reset mode.
5. Visible signs of physical damage.
Question: How do I know whether to get a 15 or 20 A circuit breaker?: Answer: Calculate the total current of all electrical equipment. that want to be connected to the breaker The sum of the calculated current should not exceed 80% of the breaker capacity. For example, a 15 A breaker can be connected to external devices up to 12A (15 x 0.80 = 12), and a 20 A breaker can be connected to external devices up to 16A (20 x 0.80 = 16). This can lead to calculation errors and can cause a fire.
